Michael Gossard (lead vocalist-rhythm guitarist)
How did you come up with your name?
The name was a coincidence. I think it is harder to come up with a band name than to write music. We were frustrated after spending a lot of time considering names. The name Acidic was something that everyone could agree on.
What’s your favorite song to play live?
My favorite song to play live is the song Chicago. It is off of our latest album and really gets the crowd going. The feeling of the audience jumping is amazing. Chicago is by far my favorite live song.
Who are some of your influences?
I was really influenced by Green Day and The Beatles. I grew up listening to both of them. I find that even when I am not trying to, their influence presents themselves in almost every piece I write or help write.
If you could tour with anyone who would it be?
I would love to tour with The Beatles. I love watching live footage of them on YouTube and seeing how the audiences interacted with them. I would love to have seen and opened for them.
Describe the song writing process.
The songwriting process can take many different forms. Usually it starts with a demo that is written in my studio. We flesh it out into something we end up playing. We also write by jamming in a practice space.
How did you all meet?
I met Matt (the drummer) when we were in High School. We put up flyers and he responded. Josh (the guitar player) saw us play a show in his hometown and when we needed a guitar player, he fit right in. Max (bassist) was friends with a relative and we were introduced when we were in need of a bassist. He dropped in and fit perfectly.
Who’s the dream producer you would like to work with?
I would love to work with Rob Cavallo. He has produced so many major game changers in the music world. I would love to pick his brains about what makes a song great.
What do you think musicians can do to make the world a better place?
I think musicians should just keep doing what they’re doing. As long as the intention is to help people, the music can really change somebody’s world for the better. Music has the ability to speak to people in the most honest way.
How has music made a difference in your life?
Music has been there through every period in my life. I have made trouble for myself throughout the years and Music has been there to allow me to express it. It is my creative outlet and my greatest purpose in life.
